The Milwaukee 49-94-7020 is a 7 in. x 1/4 in. x 7/8 in. Type 27 Grinding Wheel — a large-diameter heavy-duty grinding wheel for use with 7 in. angle grinders for aggressive material removal, weld dressing, and surface preparation on steel and ferrous metal in heavy fabrication, structural steel work, and industrial maintenance applications. The 7 in. diameter provides significantly more abrasive face area per pass than 4-1/2 in. and 5 in. grinder wheels, covering more surface area with each grinding stroke for faster completion of large-area surface preparation tasks on structural steel plates, beam flanges, and fabricated assemblies where the 7 in. grinder's higher power output and larger wheel diameter deliver the fastest material removal rate available in the portable grinder format. The 1/4 in. heavy-duty wheel thickness provides the maximum abrasive mass for the longest wheel life in sustained heavy grinding where the higher power output of 7 in. grinders and the more aggressive use conditions of heavy fabrication work consume wheel material faster than in lighter applications.
Aluminum oxide abrasive is the standard specification for steel grinding applications in heavy fabrication and structural work. The Type 27 depressed-center profile positions the abrasive face below the mounting hub for flat-surface grinding at the low approach angle that is most productive and controllable for sustained heavy grinding on structural steel and fabricated assemblies. The 7/8 in. arbor bore fits standard 7 in. angle grinder spindles.
