Cookies and tracking
We use three kinds of cookies:
- Essential: keep your cart, checkout and login working. The site won't work properly without them.
- Analytics: Google Analytics tells us which pages and products are used, so we can improve the site. It reports usage in aggregate, not by name.
- Advertising: Google Ads measures which ads lead to purchases and can show our ads to people who have visited our site. Under some state laws, this kind of advertising counts as "sharing" personal information, even though no money changes hands.
How to control tracking:
- Global Privacy Control: turn it on in your browser or with a browser extension. It tells websites you don't want your information sold or shared for advertising.
- Browser settings: you can block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop the cart and checkout from working.
- Google ads: turn off personalized ads at adssettings.google.com.
- Google Analytics: install Google's opt-out browser add-on.
Your choices and requests
- Emails: use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter, or update your preferences in My Account.
- Text messages: reply STOP to any message.
- Your account: view and update your details in My Account.
You can also ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you and give you a copy,
- correct information that's wrong,
- delete your information, or
- stop using your information for targeted advertising.
To make a request, email privacy@greatlakespowertools.com or call 800-341-3567. We'll confirm your request using the email address or order details on file, and respond within 45 days.
Some information we have to keep even after a deletion request, such as order and tax records the law requires. We won't treat you differently for making a request.
How long we keep it, and how we protect it
- Retention: we keep order records for as long as tax and accounting law requires. We keep account and marketing information until you ask us to delete it or it's no longer needed.
- Security: our store and checkout use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and access to customer information is limited to staff and providers who need it. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
- Children: our website is intended for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top.
