The 1/4 in. thick specification is the heavy-duty grinding wheel format — substantially thicker than the standard 1/8 in. grinding wheel, providing a larger abrasive mass for longer wheel life in sustained heavy grinding applications where the higher wheel mass also delivers more aggressive material removal action per pass.
