Product Description
Milwaukee 4-1/2 in. Masonry Grinding Wheel - Type 27 (10 Pack)
Model Number: 49-94-1955
The Milwaukee 49-94-1955 is a 4-1/2 in. x 1/4 in. x 7/8 in. Masonry Grinding Wheel, Type 27, sold in a 10-pack. This is a grinding wheel, not a cut-off wheel: the 1/4 in. thickness and Type 27 depressed-center profile are built for grinding and rapid material removal on the face of the work, where a thin Type 1 cut-off wheel is built for straight cutting. It is also a masonry wheel, using a silicon carbide abrasive grain formulated for concrete and masonry rather than the aluminum oxide used on metal wheels. It is designed for long life and fast material removal on brick, block, stone, mortar, concrete, and other masonry, for tasks such as grinding down high spots, smoothing concrete surfaces, and removing excess mortar. The standard 7/8 in. arbor fits 4-1/2 in. angle grinders, the most common grinder size on the jobsite.
These wheels are reinforced with fiberglass for strength and durability under the side loads of grinding, and the silicon carbide grain delivers durable performance and smooth, controlled material removal through abrasive masonry. The Type 27 depressed center lets the operator work the wheel at an angle to the surface for efficient grinding and gives clearance for the mounting flange. With a 4-1/2 in. diameter, the wheel mounts on standard 4-1/2 in. angle grinders for everyday masonry grinding, and the 10-pack keeps a working supply on hand for high-volume concrete and masonry work.
When ordering, match the wheel to the task, the material, and the tool. This is a grinding wheel for material removal, not a cut-off wheel for cutting: do not attempt to cut with a grinding wheel, and do not grind on the flat face of a thin cut-off wheel. It is a masonry wheel for concrete and masonry only; for grinding metal, use a metal grinding wheel instead, since the abrasive and bond are formulated for different materials. Grinding masonry generates respirable crystalline silica dust, often more than cutting does, so use appropriate dust control along with respiratory, eye, face, and hearing protection, and follow OSHA silica dust requirements. Always confirm the maximum RPM marked on the wheel is not exceeded by your grinder's rated speed, and confirm your grinder uses a 7/8 in. arbor. The wheels are consumable and sold as a 10-pack; the angle grinder is not included.
