The Milwaukee 49-57-5389 is a 1/8-27 NPT 1 in. Hex Threading Die, precision machined for creating or repairing clean, accurate external pipe threads. Unlike a straight fastener thread, NPT (National Pipe Taper) is a tapered pipe thread: the thread diameter changes along its length so the threads wedge together and form a seal as the connection is tightened, which is how threaded pipe and fittings are made liquid-tight and gas-tight. This die cuts a 1/8-27 NPT thread, with 27 threads per inch, as a right-hand thread. It is made from high carbon steel for durability and finished with a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance, and the size is laser-etched into the body for long-lasting, clear markings.
