The Milwaukee 49-57-5321 is an 8-32 NC 1 in. Hex Threading Die, a precision-machined die for creating or repairing external 8-32 threads. It cuts the #8 machine screw thread at 32 threads per inch in the National Coarse (UNC) series, right-hand, so it is the die to reach for when you need to thread a new 8-32 shank or rod or chase and clean up damaged, rusted, or cross-threaded 8-32 threads on an existing fastener. Like all Milwaukee hex dies, it is machined for clean, accurate threads and carries a clearly labeled starting side so you can set up the cut correctly and start the die square on the work.
The die is made of high carbon steel for durability and finished with a black oxide coating for corrosion resistance, and its markings are long-lasting laser etch for the clearest size identification. It is designed to cut threads in the most common metals, including brass, aluminum, mild steel, and more. For best results and the longest die life, use it with cutting fluid, which keeps the die cool, clears chips, and produces a cleaner thread. This is a hand threading die, turned with a die stock or threading handle rather than driven by a power tool.
The 1 in. hex shape is compatible with the Milwaukee Hex-LOK 2-in-1 Threading Handle, which accepts both dies and the tap collet with no tools to swap, as well as all standard 1 in. hex die stocks, so it drops into the threading handle or die stock you already use. It is part of Milwaukee's Hex-LOK tap and die system, and it is sold individually so you can add or replace just the 8-32 size.
