Product Description
Milwaukee 1-3/8 in. Threaded Steel Hawg Cutter for Magnetic Drills
Model Number: 49-57-1375
The Milwaukee 49-57-1375 is a 1-3/8 in. Threaded Steel Hawg Cutter — an annular cutter for Milwaukee magnetic drill presses and compatible magnetic drills designed specifically for cutting clean, accurate holes through structural steel, plate steel, and fabricated metal assemblies in steel construction, structural fabrication, and industrial maintenance applications. The 1-3/8 in. diameter annular cutter cuts only the annular ring of material at the hole perimeter — unlike twist drills that cut the complete circular cross-section and generate a large chip slug, the annular cutter removes only the ring of material at the hole edge and leaves the center plug intact until the pilot pin pushes the plug out after the cut is complete. This annular cutting action requires dramatically less cutting force per unit area than a twist drill of the same diameter, allowing Milwaukee magnetic drills to cut large-diameter holes in structural steel with magnetic holding force and drill motor output that would be insufficient for twist drill cutting at the same diameter.
The threaded shank format engages the Milwaukee magnetic drill's threaded arbor for secure, accurate bit retention during the cutting cycle. At 1-3/8 in. diameter, the Hawg Cutter is used for large structural bolt clearance holes, anchor bolt through-holes in structural steel connections, pipe and conduit penetrations through steel plate and structural sections, and access holes for connection hardware in steel fabrication where precise, clean-sided holes are required for the bolted or threaded hardware being installed. Applying Milwaukee Hawg Wash cutting lubricant (49-32-0081) throughout the cutting operation extends cutter service life significantly compared to dry cutting by cooling the cutting edges and lubricating the chip-steel interface.
See Milwaukee's complete Hawg Cutter lineup for all available diameters and for Milwaukee magnetic drill accessories including arbors and cutting lubricants.
