The Milwaukee 49-56-7040 is the Large Arbor with a 3/8 in. pilot bit for Milwaukee hole saws — the arbor assembly that connects larger-diameter hole saws to the drill chuck and provides the centering pilot bit for accurate hole saw starting on the marked hole center. The hole saw arbor is the required interface component between any drill and any hole saw — without the arbor, the hole saw is non-functional. The large arbor format is matched to the larger-diameter hole saw range, providing the structural rigidity and torque transmission capacity needed for the higher cutting forces that larger hole saw diameters generate in wood, drywall, and light metal. The 3/8 in. pilot bit specification provides the centering reference for accurate hole saw positioning and the bit's hex shank design allows the pilot bit to be ejected from the back of the hole saw after the cut is started for easier plug removal.
