Product Description
Milwaukee 1 in. Carbide Tipped Hole Saw
Model Number: 49-56-1003
The Milwaukee 49-56-1003 is a 1 in. Carbide Tipped Hole Saw for cutting clean holes through ceramic tile, porcelain tile, fiber cement, cast iron, stainless steel, and other hard or abrasive materials that standard bi-metal hole saw teeth cannot cut effectively. The carbide tipped teeth provide the cutting edge hardness and abrasion resistance that hard tile, fiber cement, and cast iron require — maintaining sharp, aggressive cutting geometry through many holes in these materials where HSS and bi-metal teeth would dull in the first few cuts. The 1 in. diameter is a commonly specified size for small plumbing stub-outs through tile and fiber cement walls, conduit penetrations through tile surfaces, and small access holes through cast iron and stainless panels where the 1 in. bore matches the fitting or pipe stub being installed through the hard surface material.
For tile and ceramic applications, wet cutting with water is strongly recommended — water cooling extends carbide tip service life, reduces thermal cracking risk in heat-sensitive glazed ceramic and porcelain tile, and suppresses respirable silica dust during the drilling operation. For fiber cement and cast iron applications, dry cutting is typical with appropriate PPE for the dust and debris. The hole saw mounts on a standard Milwaukee arbor for use with any corded or cordless drill, and the pilot bit provides the centering reference for accurate hole placement at the marked center location. The carbide tipped specification on this hole saw is designed for the range of hard and abrasive materials that standard hole saws cannot cut productively.
See Milwaukee's complete carbide tipped and carbide grit hole saw lineup for all available sizes for hard and abrasive material hole sawing applications.
