The Milwaukee 43-98-0721 is a genuine OEM Rip Fence Knob for the 2631-20 M18 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw. The rip fence knob is the threaded knob that locks the rip fence, or edge guide, to the saw's shoe: the operator slides the fence to set the cut width, then tightens the knob to clamp it so the saw tracks a straight rip parallel to the workpiece edge. The knob threads down over its spring and clamps the fence rod in the shoe. Because it is tightened and loosened on every fence setup and takes clamping load, the knob can crack, strip, or wear so it no longer holds, at which point the fence shifts mid-cut and the rip wanders. Replacing it with the genuine Milwaukee OEM knob restores secure, repeatable clamping of the rip fence, where an off-spec knob may not thread correctly or hold the fence under load.
This rip fence knob is identified as the Rip Fence Knob, Figure 37, on the Milwaukee service parts list for the 2631-20 M18 Brushless 7-1/4 in. Circular Saw, serial J74A, bulletin 54-40-2635, and it also serves the 2631-21 kit version.
