Product Description
Milwaukee Tamper Plate 6 in. x 6 in. for SDS Max Demolition Hammers
Model Number: 48-62-4050
The Milwaukee 48-62-4050 is a 6 in. x 6 in. Tamper Plate — a larger-format drop-forged steel compaction attachment for Milwaukee SDS Max demolition hammers for compacting soil, gravel, and fill material in confined trench excavations, footing bases, around underground utility installations, and tight areas where the limited access prevents the use of plate compactors. The 6 in. x 6 in. square plate provides 36 square inches of compaction face — substantially more coverage area than the 5 in. x 5 in. version (48-62-3060), delivering more soil coverage per hammer blow for faster compaction progress on wider trench cuts and larger confined compaction areas. Each hammer strike transfers the demolition hammer's high-frequency impact energy through the tamper plate to the fill material, progressively densifying the fill to the compaction density required by code for buried utilities, conduit installations, and foundation footings.
The SDS Max demolition hammer's high impact energy and high blow rate per minute delivers compaction energy that dramatically exceeds manual hand tamping, making production-pace code-compliant compaction practical for underground utility installation crews who need to complete compaction efficiently after burying conduit, gas line, water pipe, and telecommunications cable. The plate includes the replaceable shank (sold separately as 48-62-2097) that connects the plate to the SDS Max tool holder — the shank is the replaceable service component that takes the most impact stress and can be replaced independently when it bends or wears without requiring full plate replacement. The 6 in. x 6 in. size provides larger coverage appropriate for the wider trench cuts used in larger conduit and pipe installations.
The 5 in. x 5 in. version (48-62-3060) is available for narrower trenches — see Milwaukee's complete demolition hammer compaction attachment lineup for all available plate sizes.
