Product Description
Milwaukee Tamper Shank — 3/4 in. Hex
Model Number: 48-62-3065
The Milwaukee 48-62-3065 is a Tamper Shank with a 3/4 in. hex shank for professional chipping hammers equipped with a hex tool holder — the adapter shank that connects a tamper plate to a chipping hammer for powered soil, sand, and granular material compaction using the chipping hammer's impact energy as the compaction force. The tamper shank's 3/4 in. hex end engages the chipping hammer's hex tool holder, and the tamper plate mounting interface at the opposite end accepts the flat tamper plate that contacts the material being compacted. Converting a chipping hammer to a powered tamper with the tamper shank and plate combination provides the compaction energy of a powered tamper without requiring a separate dedicated tamper tool — particularly useful for compacting backfill in utility trench repairs, compacting granular base material in localized repair areas, and the confined-space compaction tasks where full-size plate compactors cannot reach or maneuver effectively.
Milwaukee drop-forges the tamper shank from high-grade steel with the structural integrity needed for the sustained impact loads of tamper work transmitted through the hex engagement to the tamper plate. The tamper plate is sold separately — verify that the tamper plate used has a mounting interface compatible with this tamper shank before use. This shank is designed for use with professional chipping hammers with the 3/4 in. hex tool holder, not for use with SDS+ or SDS Max rotary hammers.
