The Milwaukee 48-52-5067 is a 3-1/2 in. Knot Wire Cup Brush in carbon steel for use with angle grinders — designed for aggressive rust removal, heavy mill scale removal, weld spatter cleaning, and surface restoration on metal surfaces where the cup brush geometry and knotted wire configuration deliver concentrated, high-energy cleaning action on three-dimensional surfaces, weld joints, corners, and irregular metal profiles. The cup brush shape positions wire filaments to contact the work surface from a radial inward angle rather than the axial flat contact of a flat wire wheel — this geometry allows the cup brush to apply cleaning force simultaneously across the bottom face and the inside rim of the cup, providing coverage on outside corners, along weld beads, around tube and pipe OD surfaces, and on complex metal geometries where a flat wheel's single-plane contact would miss surface areas requiring cleaning.
The knotted wire construction twists multiple wire strands together into tight cable knots at the working tips — concentrating the wire mass and stiffness at each contact point for aggressive, focused material removal force that cuts through heavy rust, thick mill scale, and tenacious weld spatter faster than crimped wire cup brushes can manage on the same materials. Carbon steel wire is the appropriate specification for cleaning and surface preparation on carbon steel, cast iron, and general ferrous metal where iron particle contamination of the work surface is not a concern.
