Full Cable Twist Knot Carbon Steel Wire Wheel for use with 4 in. and 4-1/2 in. angle grinders — designed for aggressive rust removal, heavy mill scale removal, tenacious coating and paint stripping, weld preparation, weld bead cleaning, and heavy surface restoration applications where the gentler cutting action of crimped wire wheels is insufficient to cut through the material efficiently. The full cable twist knot construction creates the most aggressive wire wheel configuration in Milwaukee's wire wheel lineup: multiple individual wire strands are twisted together under high tension to form rigid wire cables, and those cables are then knotted at their tips to form the working knot points that contact the work surface. This manufacturing process concentrates the wire mass and hardness at each knot tip, creating a highly concentrated, very hard contact point at each knot that delivers maximum material removal force per unit of contact area — the knot configuration's aggressive action cuts through heavy rust, tenacious mill scale, and thick coatings in a fraction of the time that crimped wire wheels require on the same material.
The full cable twist configuration also provides a degree of self-sharpening during use — as the outer knot surface wears from contact with the workpiece, fresh wire material from within the twisted cable becomes the new working surface, maintaining aggressive cutting action throughout the wheel's operational life rather than progressively diminishing as a single-layer wire surface wears down.
