The Milwaukee 48-28-4001 is a 5-1/2 in. Bit Extension for use with 1/4 in. hex shank drill bits and driver bits — a compact extension that adds 5-1/2 in. of additional reach beyond the drill chuck for fasteners and drilling locations recessed, countersunk, or otherwise set back from the immediately accessible surface. The 5-1/2 in. length is the shortest standard extension format — providing meaningful reach extension for shallow countersunk fasteners, slightly recessed hardware, and tight clearance situations where even a small amount of additional bit length makes the difference between the drill chuck clearing the surrounding surface and being blocked from driving the fastener. At this compact length, the extension adds minimal weight and only modest flex compared to longer extensions, maintaining driving accuracy and bit stability for the applications this length is designed for.
The 1/4 in. hex quick-change interface accepts all standard 1/4 in. hex shank driver bits and small drill bits with a quick push-in engagement for fast bit changes without removing the extension from the drill chuck.
