The Milwaukee 48-28-2040 is a 24 in. QUIK-LOK 3/8 in. Hex Extension — the maximum-reach configuration in the Milwaukee 3/8 in. hex shank extension lineup, providing two full feet of additional reach for heavy-duty driving applications where fasteners or drilling locations are at the greatest distances beyond the driver chuck's natural working position. The 3/8 in. hex shank provides higher torque transmission capacity than the standard 1/4 in. hex format for applications where the fastener driving loads exceed what the smaller format can transmit reliably under peak torque — making the 3/8 in. format appropriate for larger fasteners, heavy-duty drilling, and sustained high-torque driving where the 1/4 in. hex would slip under load. The QUIK-LOK interface at the bit end accepts 3/8 in. hex shank bits with a tool-free push-in engagement and collar-pull release for fast bit changes at the 24 in. extended position during work.
Applications for this maximum-reach 3/8 in. extension include driving fasteners deep into framing cavities where the driver must be positioned outside the cavity, reaching through multiple structural layers to access fasteners on the far side, and any driving situation where the required reach between the driver chuck and the work exceeds what any shorter extension can bridge.
