The Milwaukee 48-22-5301 is a 100 ft. Fiberglass Open Reel Long Tape — a professional layout and survey tape for the extended distance measurements required in land surveying, construction layout, utility installation, and large-scale site work where standard 25 ft. and 35 ft. tape measures fall short of the measurement range needed. The 100 ft. fiberglass tape covers full building foundation layouts, large-area floor plan dimensioning, road and utility right-of-way measurements, athletic field layout, and all the extended-distance measurements that define site work, civil construction, and property survey applications. Fiberglass tape material resists the stretching that occurs in steel tapes under tension, provides electrical non-conductivity for safe use near overhead power lines and energized utility systems, and eliminates the kinking and set that steel tapes develop after repeated handling.
The open reel format allows the tape to be manually wound and unwound for controlled handling at extended lengths — the open reel facilitates cleaning debris and moisture from the tape during winding and allows visual inspection of the tape for damage.
