When a pipe is cut with a tubing cutter or saw, the cutting action creates a raised interior burr at the cut end — this burr restricts flow, can tear O-rings and gaskets during fitting insertion, and prevents complete solvent weld penetration into solder cup fittings in PVC and copper installations. The Reaming Pen's hardened steel reaming blade removes this burr with a few rotations inside the pipe end, restoring the full interior bore for proper flow and fitting installation.
