The Milwaukee 48-20-7479 is an SDS+ rotary hammer drill bit in 1/2 in. diameter with a 22 in. working length and 24 in. overall length — the maximum extended-reach configuration at one of the most heavily used commercial anchor diameters, providing the deepest working depth in the standard 1/2 in. SDS+ bit lineup for the most extreme structural anchor installations and through-penetration applications. The 24 in. overall length enables drilling through the thickest structural concrete sections, making through-penetrations from the surface of deep foundations, and completing extra-deep embedment anchor installations where engineering specifications require the maximum available embedment depth for the highest pull-out load ratings. Milwaukee 44 Magnum SDS+ bits feature carbide vacuum-brazed to heat-treated steel shanks with optimized helical fluting engineered for the demanding challenge of 1/2 in. diameter drilling at this extreme 22 in. working depth.
At 1/2 in. diameter and 22 in. working length, Milwaukee's flute engineering for this extreme-length configuration is the critical performance factor — the flute pitch, volume, and surface finish are specifically optimized to transport pulverized concrete through a 22 in. column continuously without the choking that would halt drilling progress and require repeated hole-clearing interruptions during production drilling operations.
