The Milwaukee 48-20-7080 is an SDS+ rotary hammer drill bit in 1 in. diameter with a 10 in. overall length — a large-bore configuration for structural anchor pilot holes and through-wall penetrations at the 1 in. diameter requiring more working depth than shorter standard configurations provide. Milwaukee 44 Magnum SDS+ bits feature carbide vacuum-brazed to heat-treated steel shanks with optimized helical fluting for concrete drilling performance. The 1 in. diameter is used for large structural anchors in heavy-duty wedge anchor, sleeve anchor, and adhesive anchor systems for critical structural connections requiring high pull-out load ratings, as well as through-penetrations for 3/4 in. conduit systems and large wire bundle routing holes through concrete and CMU construction.
At 1 in. diameter and 10 in. length, the SDS+ platform delivers adequate impact energy for most standard-hardness commercial concrete conditions — for the hardest high-strength commercial concrete at this large bore, the SDS Max platform provides higher impact energy delivery that may improve productivity. The 10 in. overall length enables through-wall penetrations in standard structural sections and deeper anchor embedment applications where shorter configurations cannot reach the required depth. Milwaukee's flute geometry for this diameter-length combination maintains adequate chip transport from the working depth throughout sustained drilling. The SDS+ shank provides tool-free engagement in all SDS+ rotary hammers.
