The Milwaukee 48-20-6155 is a Thin Wall Center Pin for use with Milwaukee 1-3/4 in. and larger Thin Wall Diamond Core Bits — a precision-machined centering component that ensures accurate hole location during the initial bit engagement phase of thin wall core drilling operations in concrete masonry and concrete. The center pin is inserted through the center of the core bit barrel and extends beyond the diamond segment cutting face — when the core bit is positioned at the marked hole location and the drill begins to advance, the center pin engages the concrete surface at the exact marked center point before the diamond segments contact the material. This pre-engagement of the center pin establishes the bit's rotational axis at the precise intended hole location and prevents the sideways drift and walking that occurs when a spinning core bit's diamond segments first contact a hard concrete surface without a center guide.
Accurate hole placement is a critical quality factor in core drilling — core holes that are off-center from the intended location can miss the clearance zone for structural elements, position conduit sleeves incorrectly relative to the installation drawing dimensions, and require expensive concrete repair and re-drilling to correct.
