The Milwaukee 48-13-6500 is a 1-1/2 in. x 18 in. Ship Auger Bit — the largest standard ship auger diameter in the extended 18 in. length for drilling through multiple stacked framing members at the maximum standard ship auger bore size. The 1-1/2 in. diameter provides clearance for the largest standard residential conduit sizes, large-diameter plumbing drain and vent pipe, and structural bolt holes in wood-frame construction requiring this maximum bore diameter. The self-feed screw tip is especially critical at 1-1/2 in. in the 18 in. format — the combination of large bore resistance and extended depth creates the highest drilling resistance of any standard ship auger configuration, and the self-feed screw tip's automatic advance eliminates the sustained heavy manual drill pressure that the large-bore deep-drilling combination would otherwise demand from the operator throughout each hole.
Milwaukee's through-center cutting design provides improved durability in nail-embedded retrofit and remodel conditions. Non-stick coated flutes maintain continuous chip ejection from the full 18 in. depth at the 1-1/2 in. diameter where chip volume per revolution is the largest of any standard ship auger — effective chip evacuation throughout the full depth is the critical factor for maintaining drilling speed in the most demanding ship auger configuration. The 18 in. length handles multi-member commercial framing assemblies including double top plates, stacked headers, and deep timber sections where the standard 6 in. configuration cannot reach the complete assembly depth from a single drill position. Available in 6 in. standard length for single-member drilling.
