The Milwaukee 48-13-1503 is a 1-1/2 in. x 6 in. Ship Auger Bit — the largest standard ship auger size for drilling the largest rough-in bore holes through framing lumber, dimensional wood, and nail-embedded wood in plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical rough-in applications where the 1-1/2 in. bore provides clearance for the largest standard residential conduit sizes, large-diameter plumbing drain and vent pipe, and structural bolt holes in wood-frame construction requiring this maximum bore diameter. The self-feed screw tip is especially valuable at the 1-1/2 in. diameter — the large bore generates the highest drilling resistance of any ship auger size, and the self-feed screw tip's automatic advance eliminates the heavy sustained manual drill pressure that would be required without it to maintain penetration rate through 1-1/2 in. holes in dense hardwood and engineered lumber.
