The Milwaukee 48-13-1253 is a 1-1/4 in. x 6 in. Ship Auger Bit for drilling clean holes through framing lumber, dimensional wood, and nail-embedded wood in plumbing, HVAC, and electrical rough-in applications where the 1-1/4 in. bore provides clearance for 1 in. rigid conduit with generous clearance, large-diameter flexible conduit systems, and specific plumbing rough-in holes. The 1-1/4 in. diameter is the large-bore ship auger size for the largest conduit and plumbing rough-in applications at the upper end of the ship auger range before reaching the maximum 1-1/2 in. size — used in commercial electrical rough-in where 1 in. rigid EMT or larger conduit runs are specified, and in mechanical plumbing work where the fitting or pipe system requires this large bore through wood framing. The self-feed screw tip automatically advances the bit through wood under its own rotational force, and Milwaukee's through-center cutting design provides improved durability when the bit encounters the embedded nails and fasteners common in retrofit and remodel drilling through existing framing members.
