Product Description
Milwaukee 7/8 in. x 6 in. Ship Auger Bit
Model Number: 48-13-0873
The Milwaukee 48-13-0873 is a 7/8 in. x 6 in. Ship Auger Bit for drilling clean, fast holes through framing lumber, dimensional wood, engineered wood products, and nail-embedded wood in electrical, plumbing, and mechanical rough-in applications in wood-frame construction. The 7/8 in. diameter is a versatile rough-in size for larger NM cable bundles, 3/4 in. flexible conduit, standard plumbing rough-in holes, and structural bolt penetrations in framing where the hole size must accommodate larger-gauge materials without unnecessarily oversizing the opening and weakening the framing member. Milwaukee's through-center cutting design is engineered specifically for the nail-embedded wood drilling conditions that tradespeople encounter constantly in retrofit and remodel work — the through-center geometry distributes the impact load when the bit contacts embedded nails and staples more symmetrically than conventional off-center auger tip designs, preventing the asymmetric tip fracture that ends the life of conventional auger bits prematurely when drilling through existing wood framing.
The self-feed screw tip at the center of the bit automatically advances the auger into the workpiece under its rotational force, pulling the bit into the wood without requiring the operator to apply sustained heavy downward drilling pressure — the primary cause of operator arm and shoulder fatigue during the high-volume overhead and horizontal drilling that characterizes rough-in work on active construction projects. Non-stick coated flutes provide continuous chip ejection from the hole during drilling, preventing chip accumulation in the flute channels that causes progressive slowing and eventual binding in auger drilling. The 6 in. working length handles standard single-member framing penetrations in typical stud, joist, and rafter dimensions while fitting the tight inter-member clearances encountered during rough-in work.
Also available in 18 in. length for deep drilling through multiple stacked framing members, double top plates, and thick timber sections — see Milwaukee's ship auger lineup for the complete range of diameters and lengths.
