The Milwaukee 45-06-0016 is a genuine OEM Felt Seal for the 49-16-2796 M18 FUEL QUIK-LOK Short Pole Hedge Trimmer Attachment. The felt seal is a soft sealing ring that seats into the gear case grooves around the blade drive, closing the gap where the shaft exits the case so grease stays in and clippings, dust, and grit stay out of the gearing. On a hedge trimmer, which throws fine debris right at the gear case, that seal keeps the gear lubrication clean and in place and protects the internals from the material it cuts. Because the felt is compressed in the case and takes dust and heat with use, it can pack down, tear, or wear over time, at which point grease can escape or debris can work in. Replacing it with the genuine Milwaukee OEM felt seal restores the sealed gear case with the correct felt and fit, where an off-spec seal may not seat in the grooves or seal the shaft correctly.
