Milwaukee Spindle Bushing Assembly
Model Number: 44-86-0052
The Milwaukee 44-86-0052 is a genuine OEM Spindle Bushing Assembly, also called the front bushing assembly, for the M18 Hackzall one-handed reciprocating saw. It is the front bushing that supports and guides the reciprocating spindle, the shaft that carries the blade and drives it back and forth, holding the spindle in alignment while it reciprocates and takes the side loads generated during cutting. Because it guides the spindle through every stroke, it is a wear point: as the bushing wears, the spindle develops play and wobble, which shows up as rough or wandering cuts, blade misalignment, increased vibration, and accelerated wear on the surrounding drive parts. Replacing it with the genuine Milwaukee OEM assembly restores a precise guide fit and true spindle motion, where an off-spec bushing can leave the spindle loose or bind.
This bushing is identified as the Spindle Bushing Assembly, Figure 70, on the Milwaukee service parts list, bulletin 54-40-2670, where the assembly notes also refer to it as the front bushing assembly. It serves the 2621-20 M18 Hackzall and its related versions, the 2621-21 and 2621-22 (serial groups G09A and G09B) and the 2621-059 (serial G31A). On the diagram the two pivot pins (Figure 23) are used on both sides of this front bushing assembly, and Milwaukee's instructions call for lightly coating those pivot pins where they enter the holes of the front bushing assembly during reassembly; the pins, the spindle (38-50-0076), and the rollers are separate items and should be inspected during the repair. Because Milwaukee specifies service parts by serial number as well as catalog number, verify your catalog and serial number against the official Milwaukee service parts diagram before ordering, since running production changes can alter part compatibility within the same catalog number.
