The wire leg linkage is the wire-form link that connects a folding leg of the tower light to its center support column: as the legs are spread out to set the light up, the linkage pulls each leg into its deployed stance and holds it, and as the legs are folded in, the linkage draws them back against the column for transport. The tower light uses three of these linkages, one for each leg, so the base opens and closes evenly and stands stable.
