Milwaukee Overload Protector 220-240V
Model Number: 22-36-0162
The Milwaukee 22-36-0162 is a genuine OEM Overload Protector, rated 230V and 7 amps, for the 6370-59 8 in. Metal Cutting Saw, the 220-240V version of Milwaukee's 8 in. dry-cut metal cutting saw. The overload protector is a resettable thermal circuit-breaker device wired in line with the motor that trips and interrupts power when the saw is stressed beyond its design capacity, such as when it is pushed too hard, bogged in a cut, or run without letting the motor cool. By cutting power on an overload, it protects the motor's armature and field from the overheating that leads to a burn-up. After it trips, it resets itself once things cool, but the motor needs time to cool fully, so the protector should never be overridden by holding it in, taping it, or continuing to force the saw. Using the genuine Milwaukee OEM protector ensures the correct 230V, 7 amp trip rating for this international-voltage saw, where a wrong-rated or defeated protector cannot protect the motor.
This overload protector is identified as the 230V 7A Overload Protector, Figure 20, on the Milwaukee service parts list for the 6370-59A 8 in. Metal Cutting Saw, bulletin 55-40-1635. It is the 220-240V version of this protector; the 120V version of the metal cutting saw uses a different protector, part number 22-36-0160, so order the one that matches your saw's voltage. On the diagram it connects through the black leadwire assembly, part number 23-94-1220, with a push-on terminal to the protector's tab, and it is oriented with its terminal tabs facing upward; note the wiring and routing while dismantling the tool and reconnect it the same way. Because Milwaukee specifies service parts by serial number as well as catalog number, verify your catalog and serial number against the official Milwaukee service parts diagram before ordering, since running production changes can alter part compatibility within the same catalog number.
