The defining feature of the 2018R is the dedicated BOLT system integration: where conventional hard hat headlamps clip onto the brim with universal clips that wobble, slip, and obstruct the wearer's view, the 2018R mounts directly to the Milwaukee BOLT helmet using the integrated BOLT mounting system, with a low-profile light head ultra-thin enough to clear BOLT face shields and visors without interference. The cam lock mounted rear battery pack provides the rear-side weight that balances against the front light head, eliminating the front-heavy feel of conventional headlamps and reducing operator neck fatigue across all-day wear. Flexible wire routing through the BOLT helmet preserves full functionality of all BOLT accessories including face shields, visors, chin straps, and hearing protection.
The lighting performance is built around 600 lumens of TRUEVIEW High-Definition Output across six distinct light modes, giving the operator the right beam pattern, intensity, and color temperature for every application. The Hybrid mode delivers the full 600 lumens for 6 hours of runtime when maximum brightness matters most (initial walkthrough of a dark space, locating a dropped tool, identifying a problem area). The Flood High and Spot High modes each deliver 400 lumens for 8 hours of runtime, optimized for wide-area illumination (Flood) or focused distance work (Spot). The Flood Low and Spot Low modes drop to 100 lumens for 16 hours of all-day runtime when general working light is all that's needed.
