Product Description
Milwaukee 5 in. x 1/4 in. x 7/8 in. Type 27 Grinding Wheel
Model Number: 49-94-5080
The Milwaukee 49-94-5080 is a 5 in. x 1/4 in. x 7/8 in. Type 27 Grinding Wheel for use with 5 in. angle grinders — a heavy-duty depressed-center aluminum oxide grinding wheel for surface grinding, weld dressing, and material preparation on steel and ferrous metal where the 5 in. grinder format offers the balance of coverage area and compact tool dimensions needed for the application. The 5 in. diameter provides meaningfully more grinding coverage per pass than the compact 4-1/2 in. format while the 5 in. grinder remains lighter and more maneuverable than 6 in., 7 in., and 9 in. large grinder formats — a practical combination for sustained overhead work, fabrication grinding in tight spaces, and structural steel surface preparation where the larger grinder formats would be fatiguing or physically impractical. The 1/4 in. heavy-duty thickness provides maximum abrasive mass for longest wheel life in the most aggressive 5 in. grinding work including heavy weld bead removal and sustained high-material-removal surface prep.
Aluminum oxide abrasive provides the cutting action and controlled wear rate appropriate for ferrous metal grinding applications. The Type 27 depressed-center profile positions the grinding face below the wheel hub for flat-surface grinding at the productive low approach angle. The 7/8 in. arbor bore fits standard 5 in. angle grinder spindles. The 1/4 in. heavy-duty specification is the right choice for the heaviest 5 in. grinder applications — the 1/8 in. standard-thickness version (49-94-5020) is available for lighter grinding where economy of wheel cost at moderate consumption rate is more important. Always inspect wheels before mounting, use the grinder's guard, operate within rated RPM, and use face shield and PPE during grinding.
See Milwaukee's complete 5 in. grinding wheel lineup for both 1/4 in. heavy-duty and 1/8 in. standard-thickness specifications.
