The carbide tipping provides the cutting edge hardness and abrasion resistance that hard tile, cast iron, and fiber cement require for clean, productive cutting without the rapid tooth dulling that would end a standard bi-metal hole saw's useful life in the first few holes in these materials. The 1-1/4 in. diameter serves plumbing pipe stub-out holes in tile walls, small electrical conduit penetrations through tile and fiber cement, and structural access holes through cast iron or stainless steel components where the 1-1/4 in. bore matches the fitting or conduit system being installed.
