Product Description
Milwaukee Flat Chisel 12 in.
Model Number: 48-62-2020
The Milwaukee 48-62-2020 is a 12 in. Flat Chisel for use with Milwaukee and compatible demolition hammers and rotary hammers in hammer-only mode — a heavy-duty concrete and masonry demolition, chipping, and surface preparation chisel for the standard hex-shank tool holder format. The flat chisel profile is the most versatile demolition chisel geometry in regular use — the wide, flat blade distributes the hammer's impact energy across a broader surface area than a point chisel, providing controlled material removal for breaking out sections of concrete and masonry, cutting channels through block walls for conduit and pipe installations, removing concrete form overflow and mortar seepage, and general surface preparation on concrete structural elements. Drop-forged from high-grade steel with heat-treated working areas, this chisel maintains its flat blade geometry and effective chipping action through sustained repetitive high-energy impact work without premature tip deformation, edge rounding, or fracture failure.
The 12 in. length is the standard working length for most flat chisel demolition and surface preparation applications — it provides the clearance between the hammer's tool holder and the work surface needed for good hammer positioning, visibility during chipping operations, and stroke clearance for the hammer's working motion without the excessive length of 18 in. extended designs that can be awkward in typical-clearance work areas. The hex shank provides positive anti-rotation locking in the demolition hammer's tool holder, preventing the chisel from spinning in the chuck under the lateral forces that the flat blade's broad surface contact generates during chipping and channeling work on concrete and masonry surfaces. The heat-treated work area delivers the extended service life versus standard-quality chisels that Milwaukee specifies for the working face of this chisel.
Available in 18 in. extended length for deeper reach, and in SDS Max versions for use with SDS Max demolition hammers — see Milwaukee's complete hex shank and SDS Max chisel lineup for all profiles and lengths.
