Product Description
Milwaukee 3 in. Crimped Wire Cup Brush — Carbon Steel
Model Number: 48-52-5060
The Milwaukee 48-52-5060 is a 3 in. Crimped Carbon Steel Wire Cup Brush for use with angle grinders — engineered for cleaning, rust removal, scale removal, paint stripping, and surface preparation on metal in welding preparation, fabrication, and maintenance applications where the cup brush geometry's aggressive surface coverage and wire contact angle provide superior cleaning performance on three-dimensional surfaces, curved profiles, weld joints, and irregular metal geometries compared to flat wire wheel configurations. The cup brush shape concentrates wire contact on the work surface in a configuration that applies wire force across both the bottom face and the sidewall of the cup simultaneously — providing cleaning and surface preparation coverage on outside corners, along weld beads, around pipe and tube profiles, and on complex metal surface geometries where a flat wire wheel's single-plane contact would leave incompletely cleaned areas requiring additional passes from different angles.
The crimped wire construction uses individually crimped wire filaments that provide controlled flexibility during surface contact — the crimp introduces a series of small bends along each wire that create spring-like flexibility allowing the wire to deflect and conform to irregular surface contours while maintaining working contact with the material. This conforming characteristic makes crimped cup brushes effective on surfaces with surface irregularities, weld reinforcement, casting flash, and scale buildup that would prevent full wire contact with a rigid wire brush configuration. Carbon steel wire is the standard material for cleaning and surface preparation on carbon steel, cast iron, and general ferrous metal surfaces where iron contamination of the work surface is not a concern. The 5/8 in.-11 threaded arbor provides direct mounting on standard angle grinder spindles without adapters.
For stainless steel cleaning, food-grade fabrication, or any application where carbon steel contamination of the workpiece must be prevented, Milwaukee offers stainless steel wire cup brush versions in comparable configurations.
