The Milwaukee 48-52-1350 is a 4 in. Knot Wire Cup Brush in carbon steel for use with 4 in. and 4-1/2 in. angle grinders — a heavy-duty cup brush for aggressive weld spatter removal, mill scale removal, rust removal, and surface preparation on steel and ferrous metal. The cup profile focuses all wire knot ends toward a flat face that contacts the work surface directly, concentrating the abrasive impact energy of all wire tufts simultaneously against the surface for the most aggressive cleaning action of any wire brush geometry. The knot wire construction twists multiple wire strands together into cable knots before mounting in the brush body — each knot tip delivers a concentrated high-impact contact point rather than the broad, gentle contact of individual fine wire strands, providing the aggressive abrasion needed to cut through heavy surface contamination that lighter wire brushes remove slowly.
Carbon steel wire is the standard specification for cleaning and preparation on ferrous metal surfaces where iron contamination from the wire is not a concern for the subsequent coating or application.
