The Milwaukee 48-28-2030 is an 18 in. QUIK-LOK 3/8 in. Hex Extension — the longer of the two standard lengths in the Milwaukee 3/8 in. hex shank extension format, providing a foot and a half of additional reach for heavy-duty driving applications where fasteners or drilling locations are at substantial distances beyond the driver's natural working position. The 3/8 in. hex shank provides higher torque transmission capacity than the standard 1/4 in. hex for applications where the driving force requirements exceed what the smaller format can reliably transmit — making the 3/8 in. appropriate for larger fasteners, heavy structural connections, and high-force driving where the 1/4 in. format would slip under peak load. The QUIK-LOK interface accepts 3/8 in. hex shank bits with a tool-free push-in engagement and collar-pull release for fast bit changes at the extended work position without removing the extension from the driver chuck.
The 18 in. length provides reach for fasteners deep in framing cavities, through multiple structural layers, inside large equipment assemblies, and any driving situation where the fastener is located at a distance that the shorter 12 in. version cannot bridge from the driver's operating position. At 18 in. in the 3/8 in. hex heavy-duty format, this extension serves the production structural fastening and heavy-duty drilling applications where both the extended reach and the high torque capacity of the 3/8 in. shank format are both needed simultaneously. The combination of high torque capacity and 18 in. reach is available only in this format — the 1/4 in. hex in the same length lacks the torque capacity for heavy-duty work at this distance.
