The Milwaukee 48-28-2010 is a 6 in. QUIK-LOK Extension for use with 3/8 in. hex shank bits and accessories — a bit extension that uses Milwaukee's QUIK-LOK quick-release mechanism at both the chuck end and the bit end for fast, tool-free bit and chuck changes without removing the extension from the drill or driver. Standard bit extensions require removing the extension from the chuck or bit from the extension for each bit change — the QUIK-LOK system's quick-release mechanism at both ends allows the extension to remain in the drill chuck while bits are swapped in and out of the bit end, reducing the time for each bit change to a simple pull-and-push action. The 6 in. working length provides the standard reach extension for driving recessed fasteners, reaching fasteners set back from the drill body's immediate position, and the shallow-recess fastening applications that standard 5-1/2 in. extensions also address but with the QUIK-LOK convenience at both connection points.
The 3/8 in. hex specification at both ends serves the broader bit interface used by larger impact driver bits, SDS adapter bits, and the 3/8 in. hex accessories that are not compatible with standard 1/4 in. hex quick-change chuck systems.
