Product Description
Milwaukee 3-1/2 in. Dry Core Masonry Bit
Model Number: 48-17-0035
The Milwaukee 48-17-0035 is a 3-1/2 in. Dry Core Masonry Bit — a diamond core drilling bit engineered for large-diameter dry cutting through concrete masonry units (CMU), cinder block, concrete brick, and standard concrete in applications where water supply for wet core drilling is not available, where water would damage adjacent finishes or electrical systems, or where OSHA silica dust compliance is best achieved through dry cutting with vacuum extraction rather than wet slurry management. Milwaukee Dry Core Bits use premium-quality diamonds in a dry-cut-specific segment bond formulation engineered for the heat resistance and self-cooling characteristics needed to maintain cutting performance in dry drilling operations where the absence of water cooling requires the segment bond chemistry to manage cutting interface temperature through material properties rather than water-assisted cooling.
The 3-1/2 in. diameter is a large bore specification used for electrical conduit sleeve installations requiring 3 in. conduit clearance, large plumbing drain and waste penetrations through masonry walls, HVAC ductwork sleeves, and other penetrations where the bore must accommodate large-diameter sleeve fittings and conduit systems that smaller core hole sizes cannot fit. For best segment life and OSHA compliance, dry core bits should always be used with continuous vacuum extraction that removes concrete dust at the point of generation — dust extraction protects the operator from crystalline silica exposure and removes the accumulated dust from the cutting face that contributes to segment overheating in dry drilling. Milwaukee's dry core bit lineup covers 1 in. through 6 in. in the same dry-cut specification for complete dry masonry drilling coverage.
For wet cutting applications where water slurry can be managed, Milwaukee's Diamond Premium Wet Core Bit lineup provides maximum segment life and cutting speed with the benefit of continuous water cooling.
