Product Description
Milwaukee 1-1/4 in. x 18 in. Ship Auger Bit
Model Number: 48-13-6250
The Milwaukee 48-13-6250 is a 1-1/4 in. x 18 in. Ship Auger Bit — a large-diameter, deep-reach boring bit for drilling the largest standard rough-in holes through framing lumber, structural timber, engineered wood products, and nail-embedded wood in plumbing, HVAC, and electrical rough-in applications where larger-diameter pipes, conduit systems, and structural bolt penetrations require a correspondingly large-diameter bore. The 1-1/4 in. diameter is among the largest standard self-feed ship auger sizes, used for large-diameter PVC plumbing drain and vent pipe rough-in, 1 in. rigid conduit penetrations, large structural bolt holes in timber frame and post-and-beam construction, and HVAC rough-in penetrations that require the full 1-1/4 in. bore for pipe or duct clearance. Milwaukee's through-center cutting design provides improved bit life in nail-embedded wood — when the bit contacts embedded nails, staples, and fasteners during retrofit drilling in existing structures, the through-center geometry distributes the impact load more symmetrically to prevent the asymmetric fracture that ends conventional auger bits prematurely in nail-embedded applications.
The 18 in. working length provides the deep reach needed for multiple stacked framing members, double top plates, and thick timber sections that the standard 6 in. length cannot penetrate in a single setup — enabling the completion of full-depth holes without repositioning the drill or switching to extension bits for applications where the structural assembly depth exceeds what shorter bits can drill from a single side. Non-stick coated flutes promote fast, continuous chip ejection from the full 18 in. bore depth, preventing the chip packing that slows drilling speed in long holes at large diameters. The self-feed screw tip at the center of the bit automatically pulls the bit into the wood under rotational force alone, eliminating the heavy manual drill pressure that causes operator fatigue during high-volume large-diameter drilling in production rough-in work.
Milwaukee ship auger bits are available from 3/8 in. through 1-1/2 in. diameter in both 6 in. and 18 in. lengths — the 1-1/4 in. is one of the larger sizes suited to major rough-in penetrations and heavy timber bolt work.
